This is a collection of images for Dan Margulis book review of Chapter 4
Original (shot in raw) display a significant yellow cast
Simple application of "daylight" white balance while in-raw processing takes care of that. But let's assume we don't have raw. LAB to the rescue!
This is how image looks like if you do all enhancements in RAW. We'll use this image as our target reference.
I set four markers on four the most important "colored" areas
Initial and final info on our four markers.
First I applied B curve to fix the yellow cast. As you can see, it's off center.
Next I tweaked A curve a little to make the GGB more appealing. Note that A curve is centered - we don't want to bring a new cast. The little anchor point in the lower left quarter controls how "red" we want out bridge - its sligtest move chages the hue.
Note also, that since we practically don't have any green that we want to fix, I left the "green" part of A curve intact.
Finally, on the L curve I did pretty much standard S shape.
Initial and final info on our four markers. You can see big difference in B values on markers #1 (clouds) and #4 (water): they moved from positive (yellow) to negative (blue).
This image shows very clearly the difference between the original cast and the final fix.
Final LAB version. It's much better than yellowish pale original. (Although I must say that I personally like final raw version better, so if you have RAW - by al means, use it!)
